This walking tour of Portaferry will be led by the knowledgeable Brigid Watson of Sustainable Journeys Ireland, with a Viking and natural history emphasis.
Once an important shipbuilding centre, Portaferry is now a picturesque tourist destination nestled on the shore of Strangford Lough. On this walk, explore the economic and social history of the town and visit local buildings of architectural interest. Learn about Portaferry’s maritime industrial heritage, key people who shaped the development of the town, and hear stories about the impact of the Vikings in this coastal area.
Suitable for all.
Bring warm clothing, including a hat and rainproof gear. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour ends back at the Portaferry Hotel.
Due to the gradient and surfaces of the route, the walk is unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Car parking information - this list is all borough, including Portaferry. There will be signage directing visitors to car parking and to temporary parking for the duration of the festival.
