Eastside Lives Bangor at The Old Market House EHOD 2024

The Old Market House, 77 Main Street, Bangor, County Down, BT20 5AF
Eastside Lives Bangor at The Old Market House EHOD 2024

About

A landmark building in the centre of Bangor since the 18th Century, The Old Market House has variously been a market house, a courthouse, an infant school, a town hall and, most recently a bank. Empty since 2019, this iconic building is now entering the next phase of its existence.

Purchased by Kilcooley Women's Centre (KWC) in 2020, the vision is to regenerate the Old Market House into a vibrant heritage, community and enterprise space with a dedicated programme of heritage-based activity; the continued development of innovative co-working spaces and by working towards the full restoration of this Grade B Listed building.

As part of our plans we have launched our heritage programme Eastside Lives Bangor - Lives Revisited Through Heritage, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

This unique heritage programme is inspired by the history of The Old Market House and developed by Kilcooley Women's Centre and will explore the history of The Old Market House, the city of Bangor and it's people.
