About

Local author, Philip Johnston, has produced a beautifully illustrated book for children based on the well known and loved tale of Daft Eddie.

Philip says he was inspired as a child by tales told by his grandmother of a character known as Daft Eddie. During lockdown, he read the original book by W G Lyttle and was inspired to write and illustrate a story for young people, allowing the story of Daft Eddie to live on.

While writing the book, he enjoyed exploring Strangford Lough with his family, discovering places from Daft Eddie's story, whilst enjoying the beautiful landscape and surroundings.

See Philip's original sketches for the book, complemented by paintings of locations from the tale by his wife, Jillian. Jillian's paintings and prints are available to buy, as are copies of the book, signed by the author.

As Philip says "Keep telling your stories to the next generation....so the next generation can keep telling your stories!"
