Come along to this beautiful autumnal experience at the Ulster Folk Museum, Cultra in collaboration with Lightfoot Bangor, for a unique apple harvest lunch.
There is a long tradition of apple growing and eating in Ulster – particular in the rich soils and favourable climate of county Armagh. In the past, most country small holdings and cottages would have had at least a couple of apple trees whose fruit would be harvested and preserved to store over the long winter or enjoyed as part of the abundance of harvest time.
Select your own apples from the museum orchard of heritage strains and then venture to one of the heritage buildings where you and your fellow guests will collaborate to prepare a tasty communal two-course lunch under the friendly instruction of Nina Cristinacce.
Things to note
This experience includes a two-course lunch and general access to the Ulster Folk Museum, please take your time to enjoy the museum before and after this experience.

This event is suitable for ages 16 yrs plus.
Those under 18 yrs must be accompanied by an adult and also purchase a full price ticket.

This is an outside, slow-paced walking event that will take place rain or shine so please wear suitable clothes and footwear.

Getting there
By Car: From Belfast follow the A2 towards City Airport/Bangor/Holywood. Continue along the Belfast Road A2. Continue along the Holywood bypass A2 to Cultra, brown signs are visible for the Ulster Folk Museum. Parking is available at the Ulster Folk Museum, Cultra.
By Bus or Rail: Closest rail station is Cultra. See Translink NI website for bus departure and arrival times. The Museum is approximately 10-15 minute walk over the bridge and up a slight incline to the main attraction.
Accessibility
Ulster Folk Museum has many historic buildings which aren’t completely accessible to visitors. Due to the historic nature of their design, you’ll find uneven surfaces and stepped access to some of the older buildings and there is a variety of ground surfaces and hills around the rural parts of the museum, to be expected with it being an outdoor museum. The UFM team will be there to provide assistance and guidance to anyone who needs it and mobility scooters or all-terrain wheelchairs can be booked in advance by emailing info@nationalmuseumsni.org or calling +44 (0)28 9039 5292.

Where practicable providers within the Experience Programme will aim to accommodate carers and be as inclusive as possible. With such a diverse range of activities, operated by a number of providers, it is necessary for this to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
