Discover the art of lucet braiding, an ancient craft with Viking roots that found its way into Celtic culture. This three-hour workshop teaches you to create beautiful round braids for jewellery or decorative cordage using a simple tool rich in history. Explore your creativity with various yarns, beads, and charms. Kiri Cottage is set near Strangford Lough, enjoy views of Scrabo Tower and the Mournes while crafting.  Savour homemade refreshments in a relaxed atmosphere. 

Take home your own lucet and wool to continue to hone your new skills at practicing this timeless art. A perfect blend of craft, history, and scenic beauty for a memorable day out.

Homemade Irish breads and bakes, and Tea and coffee will be available for guests.

This is an unplugged experience where you will learn a new skill which is easy to pick up and has many applications including jewellery making and a range of practical uses.

Things to note
All materials are provided and included in the ticket price. 
Carers are welcome, however tickets must be purchased if they wish to participate. 
Suitable for those aged 12 years and over, however children aged 16 years and under must be accompanied by a parent/ guardian.

By car: From Belfast/Newtownards Follow the A20 towards Portaferry. Approximately 31/2 miles beyond Kircubbin, turn left on to the Loughdoo Road.  Kiri Cottage Crafts is the second house on the left on the Loughdoo Road. Parking available on site.

By public transport: From Belfast/Newtownards Ulsterbus Service no 10.  See Translink for timetables.
