Ards Town Centre Criterium 2023

About

The 2024 Ards Town Centre Races (Criterium) cycling event is due to take place on the evening of Wednesday 12 June 2024.

This traditional Criterium event takes place in closed roads on a circuit in the centre of Newtownards. It involves racing for licensed riders in different categories of age, gender and capability.

The event, which is organised by Ards Cycling Club, has been awarded a grant from Ards and North Down Borough Council's Events and Festivals Fund for 2024-25.

Ards Cycling Club has been liaising closely with the relevant statutory authorities. The circuit will require the closure of through traffic, commencing from approximately 5.15 pm until 9.15 pm.

Access to the closed road circuit, before and between scheduled races, will be available for spectators and visitors, arriving on foot or bicycle. Accredited marshals will assist in this process.

The cycling activities will commence at 6pm, with a children's fun circuit, followed by youth races and then the categorised races. Competitors will travel from all over Northern Ireland and beyond to compete, and it promises to be a memorable and entertaining evening for the entire family.

This event is Grant Aided by Ards and North Down Borough Council's Tourism Department.
