About
Restored in 2017, The Old Bank is a former bank converted to a quirky but luxurious base to enjoy Portaferry and explore the Strangford area. With a fully equipped kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms (master ensuite with shower), another two bathrooms (one with shower) and of course a vault. Instagram friendly.. Great for couples and small families. Between Mount Stewart (15 mins) and Castle Ward (ferry). Game of Thrones locations, the Mournes, and Titanic Belfast (under an hour).
Portaferry is an historic small village at the south end of Strangford Lough, its stone tower house (under restoration) demonstrating its strategic importance for a millennium. The Old Bank is a listed building on the village square within the historic conservation area. The Portaferry Hotel and the Salthouse offer great dining options, and Ireland's smallest pub (Dumigans) offers a special experience. The Square is the commercial core of Portaferry and it can be busy with an early morning bustle when traders are setting up and opening for the day. The Portico Arts Centre is right behind us. The ferry is just 8 minutes to the equally quaint Strangford village, offering another 3 high quality restaurants, the Lobster Pot, the Artisan Cookhouse and the Cuan, all within a minute's walk. Last ferry back after a good meal is a great way to round off an evening.
A great base for touring Strangford, Belfast, The Mournes and the whole of Ireland.
