Our Siren Song: Art Making Walk

19 Harbour Road, Groomsport, Down, BT19 6JR
Beach with Flags

About

Join us for a creative and inspiring event where we will explore our shores.

At 1:30pm the group will be lead by the artist on a gentle 5 minute walk to the beach to explore the shore and make windmills, paper birds, boats, lighthouses (what do you see, what inspires you?) – to be assembled into a beach scene to celebrate and photograph.

This event is a great opportunity to relax, unwind, and connect with your inner artist. Don't miss out on this unique experience! See you there on Tuesday 8 April at 1:30pm at We'll meet at the Groomsport Boathouse, in the centre of Groomsport Harbour.

Refreshments will be available at the Community Centre, please bring a reusable cup if you'd like a hot cuppa.

This event is part of a series of walking & crafting events Ards and North Down Council are delivering with Beat Carnival, as part of an exciting Uk-wide programme and festival, Beach of Dreams.

Our Siren Song is Beat Carnival's Beach of Dreams project in Northern Ireland. It offers creative programmes on the Ards Peninsula coast that engage local artists and communities in meaningful activities to highlight the beauty, heritage and ecology of our coastline.

The project will culminate with a community arts event at Millisle Beach on 17th May 2025 during the UK Beach of Dreams Festival. Our siren will call people to the coast: her song will be a love song for our sea and shore, and a call to action, to preserve this precious resource for future generations.
