About

Open House Festival takes place throughout the whole summer in the seaside City of Bangor, with more than 70 free and ticketed events to choose from. We start with our free family friendly Seaside Revival Vintage Festival on Bangor seafront, on Saturday 29th June, complete with classic car show, vintage stalls, music and dancing, and a special Charleston lesson from Strictly Come Dancing choreographer Jenny Thomas.

This is followed by our Pickie to Pier Open Water Swim on Saturday 6th July, with 200 swimmers continuing the tradition that started more than 100 years ago. Every Sunday throughout July and August the Festival hosts free family friendly Picnic in the Park events with live music at the band stand in Ward Park ranging from rock and punk to folk and funk. Festival highlights include ticketed seated shows under a stretch tent in the beautiful Walled Garden at Bangor Castle during August, and more than 40 events in our Court House venue, a repurposed Victorian listed building on Bangor seafront. The programme includes music from the likes of Eleanor McEvoy, The Darkling Air, This is the Kit, Rozi Plane, Skinny Living, the Florentinas, John Francis Flynn and Joshua Burnside, and features some of Northern Ireland's top comedians including Paddy Raff, Paddy McDonnell, Diona Doherty, Micky Bartlett, Jarlath Regan and Colin Geddis. Our film series includes a Colin Bateman Season, celebrating the screenwriting of one of Bangor's literary heroes. There are lots more events from DJs including Deptford Northern Soul Club and Pete Snodden, to Folk on a Boat musical voyages, to wine tastings and pop-up food events.

This event is Grant Aided by Ards and North Down Borough Council's Tourism Department.
