18th February 2025
Late Night Art Bangor got off to a great start in January 2025!
Here’s how you can get involved!
LNA launched in January 2025 with 10 venues and hundreds of people taking in exhibitions, demos and workshops. Whilst Boom Studios, the Court House and Seacourt got the initiative up and running it is completely voluntary and self-funded. Ahead of February’s LNA we are spreading the word about how to get involved.
What is Late Night Art Bangor
LNA Bangor is an initiative that aims to share Bangor’s amazing arts and cultural venues and showcase the creatives who live and work here.
On the last Thursday of every month* from 6-9pm you can enjoy open house across the city centre. (*except December)
LNA is about encouraging collective effort. All you need is to share the goal of creating a vibrant arts community. We hope the knock-on effect will be a boost to the city centre and the nighttime scene.
Alison Gordon, Development Director, Open House Festival and Bangor Court House:
“The first LNA Bangor took place on 30th January, with ten galleries, studios, and art spaces participating, and a few local businesses opening late in support. We were overwhelmed by the response. Many hundreds of people from Bangor, Belfast and beyond turned out and brought central Bangor to life for a few hours. On the back of that success, several new venues are joining Late Night Art in February, and more local businesses are planning to open late to support us. It’s really heartening to see the creative and business communities working together to drive footfall into central Bangor and show our city at its best.”
New venues for Late Night Art on Thursday 27th February include:
• Park Life café, Park Drive (exhibition by Bangor Academy students )
• Peppery Cat, High Street (jewellery exhibition)
• Hop House, High Street (exhibition by emerging artists)
• Bangor Carnegie Library, Hamilton Road (exhibition by Carla Hodgson and Allyson Klein)
• Ginger and Berry café, High Street (group exhibition of emerging artists)
Local businesses opening in support will include Doodle and Boom, the Guillemot Kitchen Cafe, and Carnaby.
How to get involved
Right now there are two ways to become involved.
OPTION 1: As a LNA Bangor Venue
If you are an established arts or cultural venue (for example galleries, libraries, workshops, studios, performance spaces) you can be featured on the map as a LNA Venue.
You simply open on the last Thursday of the month from 6-9pm. It would be great if you can hold any launches or openings you plan on LNA.
If you are a business holding a live showcase of creativity we’ll add you to the map for the month you’ve got something going on.
You share the word on your socials and use the hashtag #LNABangor
(Showcase ideas, this not an exhaustive list
Pop up exhibition, live performance, participative workshop, craft demonstration, pop up craft market)
OPTION 2: As a LNA Bangor Supporter - Open for LNA Bangor
We think there will be lots of people moving around the city so we hope businesses can avail of the footfall. We can provide a window decal and we hope you’ll post using the hashtag #LNABangor to let people know you’ll be open. Offers or incentives are welcome! We hope people will make a night of it and we’ll see some knock-on impacts for businesses.
