Regional Growth Potential of Local Tourism Industry in Focus at NI Tourism Conference.
26th April 2024
The Tourism Northern Ireland tourism conference on Tuesday 23 April at Titanic Belfast .
The industry event shone a light on key themes of People, Place and Partnership. The conference was a fantastic opportunity hear from keynote speakers including Economy Minister Conor Murphy, Alice Mansergh, Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland, Ellvena Graham, Chair of Tourism Northern Ireland, John McGrillen Chief Executive of Tourism Northern Ireland and George Clarke, Architect and Television Presenter.
Alice Mansergh, Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland featured a video of the former Ireland Rugby Captain Rory Best, where he takes us all on a journey around County Down to meet some of our passionate producers who are preserving traditions, starting new ones and celebrating the stunning landscapes that surround them including Ards and North Down provider, Tracey's Farmhouse Kitchen - a quaint thatched cottage right by the shores of the tranquil Strangford Lough, and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
There, after a stand-up paddleboarding session on the lough with Joe, Tracey's husband, Rory takes to fire-warmed farmhouse kitchen where, guided by passionate home cook Tracey, he learns how to bake traditional soda bread, which she makes using local flour. Read more about Rory's journey through County Down.
With over 300 industry delegates together in one room celebrating the success of the past year and looking ahead to a strong 24/25 enthusiasm for the tourism sector and knowledge sharing was palpable.
