Clandeboye Estate is located on the outskirts of Bangor and boasts 600 acres of broadleaf woodland. Karen explains how their Forest Rangers programme allows children to become immersed in nature, play in the mud, explore trees, and enjoy the great outdoors.
What makes us sustainable...
- We have an anaerobic digester which provides the estate with electricity; it takes animal waste and provides biofertilizer and energy;
- Our yoghurt tubs are totally recyclable;
- We run a Forest School for kids where they are entertained outdoors and learn all about the environment around us; They get into their ‘mucky puddle’ suits and off they go!
- We have bee hives and an orchard to sustain the bees;
- We lease land for use as an organic vegetable farm’.
