A fantastic 14 local traders are getting into the 1940s swing of things with special offers and giveaways planned throughout the weekend. Sea Bangor Passports will operate on Saturday 1 June and will guide visitors to participating businesses that have fun activities and giveaways. The Passports can be collected from 11am on the Saturday (1 June) from Bangor Visitor Information Centre (VIC) or the Visitor Information Caravan (at the entrance to the Sea Bangor site), as well as from the participating retailers.
From foodie shops to clothing, gaming and more, all participating retailers will have activities or giveaways for those who visit their shops. You can pick up some free sweet treats, ice lollies, colouring in packs or even some 1940s rations chocolate cake and 1940s makeup. Get your Passport stamped when you visit, and if you get stamps from all 14 participating retailers, return the Passport to the Visitor Information Centre to receive a prize!
The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Jennifer Gilmour, said:
“Sea Bangor is always a popular event and attracts many visitors to our Borough, bringing substantial economic benefit which will bolster our local traders and support the local economy. I would like to thank each of the businesses that are involved with the Sea Bangor Passport and I hope it will be a great day for everyone.
“This year will be particularly special for Sea Bangor as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings. There will be something for everyone to enjoy at the 1940s-themed festival, and it will also provide the opportunity to reflect during this important anniversary.”
