October Half Term Promises a Week of Super Natural Activities at WWT Castle Espie
16th October 2024
Families can tap into the magic that’s all around them at WWT Castle Espie this October half term, where wand making and spell casting are just a few of the mystical activities that will keep curious minds bewitched.
Running from 26-31 October, the event promises unique activities that can involve everyone from grandparents to toddlers. Go on a Mini-Beast Hunt amongst awesome autumn woodlands, or discover mysterious historical and natural artefacts from the Cauldron of Curiosities (26-27 Oct). Families can also get creative at a drop-in spider-crafting workshop with Castle Espie’s resident artist Tracey Johnston (29 Oct), and at Mrs Maker’s Spooky Masquerade art workshop (30 Oct, booking required).
Little witches and wizards are also invited to create their own unique wand and casts spells for nature. While those who love to listen and learn can enjoy a special children’s story time with toasted marshmallows on Halloween (31 Oct). Fancy dress is encouraged!
Enjoying a week of super natural activities in wetland nature will be made easy with a free WWT Castle Espie ‘Spells and Potions’ logbook that can be picked up on arrival. Capturing the memories being made, it includes a handy space to write down spooky spells and ‘super natural’ potions.
Paul Stewart, Centre Manager at WWT Castle Espie, said:
“This October half term we have lots of super natural activities for a fun-filled week of adventure. Whether it’s mini-beast hunting or making your own magical wand for spell casting, we’re bubbling over with activities and here to share how super wetland nature can be.”
Most activities are included in the price of a WWT Castle Espie admission ticket or are free to WWT members. Craft activities have a small donation cost. Visitors should book in advance for Mini-Beast Hunting, Storytelling and Mrs Maker’s Spooky Masquerade.
Visitors booking admission online can also take advantage of a 10% reduction off ticket prices at WWT Castle Espie.
