NI Silver Recycles and Remodels Old Jewellery into New Pieces to Cherish
6th December 2023
Ruth one of our #ANDSustainableGiants runs NI Silver near Holywood. She is renowned for her jewellery pieces inspired by Northern Ireland landmarks and bespoke services. She also runs workshops, throughout the year, giving visitors the chance to make their own unique pieces such as rings and bangles.
Ruth, shares how she recycles and remodels old jewellery into beautiful new pieces, so the wearer can retain the sentiment and memories to wear and enjoy for years to come.
As a huge advocate of recycling gold and silver leftovers from her jewellery making, Ruth tells us about an important part of her goldsmith services.
To recycle and remodel the old jewellery for her clients, she removes old precious stones, melts down the gold and silver rings, necklaces and earrings to create new, modern designs that have been drawn up together by herself and her customer.
The precious heirlooms are used to retain the important memories of loved ones whilst allowing for the incorporation of new memories that can be worn forever.
Sometimes the old precious stones are also added to the new design and set into these new pieces of jewellery or additional pieces to create a lovely new matching set.
Ruth said, "having recently discovered and joined the Sustainable Giants, it has allowed me to undertake business with like-minded individuals - we are all about re-using and repurposing old materials, creating zero waste and saving our planet and environment for future generations".
