The Ulster History Circle have erected a Blue Plaque at the Hotel dedicated to Pioneer rose hybridist George Dickson 1832-1914 who lived there.
Dickson started breeding roses in 1879 and by the turn of the century his firm had produced many gold medal-winning blooms and held the Royal Warrant.
