The Somme Museum was built on the site where the soldiers of the 108th Brigade of the 36th (Ulster) Division trained after the outbreak of war.

The Somme Museum will be open to the public on:

Group/school Guided Tours - visit the reconstructed First World War trenches

If you want to see and hear what life was like for a soldier in the First World War then step back in time on our GUIDED TOUR of the Somme Museum with expert guides. Group tours are available and can be booked in advance by emailing the Museum at claire@sommeassociation.com

For groups each tour lasts approximately one hour and there will also be time to discover the other exhibitions in the museum.

Educational programme for primary and post primary schools includes a guided tour and a hands on session. Staff have received autism awareness training.

Prices for group Guided Tour

Group Rate Out of hours £12.00 per person (ALL AGES) for Groups of 20 or more. Maximum time 2 hrs. Must be paid 2 weeks in advance of visit.

Adult Group £11.00 per person NORMAL HOURS 10am-4pm

Seniors 65+ & Accessible £9.00 per person

Children £9.00

School £6.50 per pupil, teachers free

Family 1 Adult & up to 3 children £32.00

Family 2 Adult & 3 Children £35.00

Facilities: There is onsite parking for thirty cars and several bus and coaches, with overflow parking available. This facility is disabled person friendly with fully accessible toilets.

There is a lecture hall and lecture theatre which can be hired.

The Trenches - These can be visited by going on the GUIDED TOUR of the Museum which are every hour. See special opening.

Temporary Exhibitions - There are three exhibitions on display at present: 'Women and the First World War', 'D DAY Voices', 'None That Go Return Again- The Armistice & The Aftermath'.

Café: The Museum café is closed at present but can cater for groups by prior arrangement. Email claire@sommeassociation.com

Facilities Available

The Museum is fully accessible and can adjust the guided tour to suit all abilities and learning needs. Special hands on tours, with prior arrangement, are also available for visually impaired visitors. The Museum’s interactive tour can accommodate those with poor mobility and a wheelchair is available on request. The Museum has a hearing loop at reception and a portable hearing loop for the guided tour is also available for those with hearing difficulties.
